Let's Party Like It's '96 and Bring the Horn Section Back
We are getting closer and closer to spring, and I cannot wait to get spring sprung. Internal Monologue - If I had a Ska Band, I would name it Spring Sprung Spoils. Did you happen to listen to our Valentine's Playlist on Spotify? What did you think? What did you hate? What did you love? What would you have added?
Something occurred to me today that I have been rolling around in my head for the last week. On the drive in today, I finally realized something that I am sure most people have come up with, so this may not be enlightening, but I thought I would share. Every night I write down three things that I am grateful for. The things that I write can be anything and everything. They can be as simple as the smell of coffee as it poured into my cup and how it tasted. It could be the person that said hi to me as we passed in the hallway. Or the store clerk that smiled with their eyes when they greeted me.
So back to the drive to work today. I came to the conclusion that you should make sure you have something every day that you are looking forward to. It doesn't have to be these significant events; these show stoppers and mind-blowing moments. Those happen so infrequently; it is moot. However, everyday life, the life we have right here and now can offer us something to look forward to. Maybe your thing is looking forward to going to work (like me) or watching a movie later in the evening. Playing some Ska music and bouncing around a room for a few minutes. But have something every day that lights you up, that puts a smile on your face and a spring in your step. If anything, as your string these experiences together, it will give you the hunger to consume more of these moments. Anyone up for some Toots and the Maytals, Op Ivy, or Save Ferris? Just find something to look forward to every day. You might find yourself just a bit happier.
